Too often the Better Business Bureau has to get invloved with identity theft cases months after the individual’s ID has been stolen. This event took on a proactive stance rather than a reactive one. A Cintas mobile Document Shredding truck was stationed at a community mall and encouraged residents to bring in all of their boxes of sensitive information to be shredded.
The FTC estimated that 9 million American’s identities are stolen every year. Sensitive documents should not be thrown away, but should be shredded instead. Personal information such as credit card information, Social Security numbers, and bank records should all be shredded.
